Safe Stop Academy includes structured modules designed to teach safe behavior, lawful compliance, and decision-making during police encounters.
Module 1- Understanding Lawful Police Authority
Participants will be able to:
• Identify what constitutes a lawful order during a police encounter
• Distinguish between compliance at the scene and legal remedies afterward
Module 2 - How Escalation Happens
Participants will be able to:
• Recognize common behaviors that escalate police encounters
• Explain how emotional reactions can contribute to criminal charges
Module 3 - Communication Under Pressure
Participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate understanding of effective verbal and non-verbal communication during police encounters
• Identify communication behaviors that increase or decrease escalation risk
Module 4 - Decision Making in High-Stress Situations
Participants will be able to:
• Describe how stress impacts judgment and reaction time
• Apply techniques to slow decision-making during law enforcement interactions
Module 5 - Consequences of Non-Compliance
Participants will be able to:
• Identify potential legal consequences of non-compliant behavior
• Explain the personal and public safety risks associated with escalation
Module 6 - Applying Safer Strategies Going Forward
Participants will be able to:
• Identify practical strategies for safer interactions with law enforcement
• Describe appropriate steps to address concerns about police conduct after an encounter
Completion Requirements
Participants must complete all course material and pass the final quiz to receive a Certificate of Completion.
